Job Description
A Senior Mortgage Loan Originator is a seasoned professional responsible for originating, processing, and closing mortgage loans. This role involves building strong client relationships, providing expert financial advice, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:
- Actively seek out and develop relationships with potential clients, including real estate agents, builders, and individual borrowers.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the loan process, from initial consultation to closing.
- Build and maintain a strong referral network.
- Loan Origination and Processing:
- Conduct thorough financial analysis of borrowers' creditworthiness and income to determine eligibility for various loan programs.
- Guide clients through the loan application process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required documentation.
- Review loan applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Coordinate with underwriters, processors, and closing agents to ensure timely and efficient loan processing.
- Loan Closing:
- Review closing documents and coordinate with title companies and escrow officers.
- Oversee the post-closing process to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date on federal and state mortgage lending regulations, including RESPA, TILA, and Dodd-Frank.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain knowledge and skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven track record of success in mortgage loan origination.
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and closing procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- NMLS license required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with various loan products, including conventional, FHA, VA, and jumbo loans.
- Knowledge of mortgage banking software and CRM systems.
- Strong sales and marketing skills.
- Leadership experience, including mentoring and coaching junior team members.
